- Is my data really encrypted?
- Yes — client-side encryption with keys we never see. Even Gera staff cannot read your vault. Open-source crypto primitives (libsodium / age), audited annually. Lose your password and we cannot recover your data — that is the trade-off for true privacy.
- How does AI search work without seeing my data?
- On-device embeddings on mobile and desktop; the encrypted index sync uses zero-knowledge proofs. Server-side AI assist is opt-in only and runs against decrypted snippets in ephemeral memory — never logged, never used for training.
- Can I export everything?
- Always. One-click export to plain Markdown, JSON, or PDF. Folder structure and tags preserved. No vendor lock-in, ever.
